15cm sIG 33B auf PzKpfw III Ausf H

(150mm Heavy Infantry Gun 33B on Armored Tank Series 3 Type H)

Model Build: February, 2008

Kits needed: Attack Hobby Kits #72847 15cm siG 33 auf Panzer III and Revell Germany #03133 PzKpfw III Ausf L

Reference Books: Darlington Productions "Rommel's Funnies" by Tom Jentz ISBN 0-6948796-6-0 (1997) and Panzer Tracts "Panzerkampfwagen III Ausf E, F, G, und H" by Tom Jentz ISBN 0-9771643-9-X (2007)

This conversion is based on the only known photo ("Rommel's Funnies") of a one-of-a-kind field modification. I also used other pictures from the same book of the Bison Pz II (for the gun, gun mount and side armor shields). I am using as reference the Panzer III book listed above to back-date the Revell Ausf L to an Ausf H.

In the "Rommel's Funnies" book is the following text on this vehicle: "A Pz.Kpfw. III Ausf H was converted by the troops in North Africa into a 15cm s.I.G.33 B Sfl. Components including the 15 cm s.I.G. (with shortened trail), gun shield, superstructure sides with tool stowage, and ammuntion racks were stripped from a verstaerktem Pz.Kpfw.II Fahfgestell (strengthened Pz.II chasis). (TTM)"
