Kassbohrer Heavy Panzer Trailer

Kit # 72067

(Review coming soon)

Panzer I Ausf F (VK 1801)

Kit # OB-1(Odd Ball range)

Scale: 1/76

Material: Resin

Review date: May, 2009

Quality: Casting is very good (some small air bubbles), minimal flash and virtually no resin plug to remove. Overall, great detail on the vehicle. The roadwheels are cast in halves, so full track detail is included and this also allows the spoked road wheels to be opened up. Engine deck area is accurately represented with the unique grill work from this series.

Parts: 26 pieces (hull, turret, hatch, 2x front fenders, 2x rear fenders,  2x headlights, notek light, 2x drive sprockets, 2x idler wheels, 2x track assemblies, 6x outer road wheels (spoked type), 4x outer road wheels (dish type) Note: 2nd set each road wheel type not shown in photo

Instructions: none given (but vehicle is a simple build)

Packaging: Zip-Lock bag

Additional: this kit was 1st released under Gordon's "Odd Ball" range around 15 years ago and is now being cast and sold by United-Fun Hobby Shop in Germany under the "Cromwell Models Germany" name. This is the 1st ever kit of Panzer I Ausf F in 1/76 resin. Wheels are spoked and track assemblies are cast in layers allowing for full track detail and wheel spacing, commander's area is hollowed out enough for a bust or half figure to be added. You will need to add the antennae mast guides that are mounted underneath of the 2 MG armored housings on the turret as well as two grab handles on hull sides above the 2 escape hatches from solder wire or something similar.

SPW or Schlepper "Katzchen"

Material: Resin

Review date: March, 2008

Quality: Casting is very good with great details on and in the vehicle!

Instructions: none given (but vehicle is a simple build)

Additional: Gordon Brown said he got the Cromwell Models Germany master back from United-Fun just a week prior to the Trucks-N-Tracks (FEB 2008) show and was able to re-work the kit into the Combat Ready range in time for the show. This kit actually has better detail than the earlier one that was offered. Also of note is that he says the vehicle was not intended solely as an SPW/APC, but rather as an arterillery schlepper transporting the gun's crew inside the vehicle. There is to be a combi-set out in the future that will have the "Katzchen" and an artillery piece included.
