Cromwell Models (Cromwell Models Germany) Panzer I Ausf F (VK 1801) Kit OB-1 (Odd Ball range) Scale: 1/76 Material: Resin Model Build Review date: July, 2009 Model Build Review author: Tony Ivey I always wanted to get a kit of the Panzer I Ausf F. When I got back into modeling (1991) I noticed that Cromwell Models had a Panzer I Ausf F, but I had no idea how to get one in the USA. There was a hobby shop I went to a few times a year in California called Brookhurst Hobbies. The owner went to the UK once in a while to purchase small scale kits for his shop and I hoped to find it on one on my visits, but was not so lucky. This of course all happened before I was savvy to the internet. Later I found out that United-Fun Hobby Shop in Germany had it under the Cromwell Models Germany name, so of course I ordered 2 and lucky for me I did (as will be shown later, the 2nd hull and other pieces will come to good use for a conversion project). The model is very nicely cast in a pale yellow and light gray resin that is easy to work with (sanding and drilling). Only 1 air bubble (on right front fender) and 2 items not cast from the mold (tube on right hull & shock absorber on left hull) - all easy to fix or replace. The wheels are spoked like they should be and the track has inside detail (unlike the Retromodels kit). There are mounting guides on the hull sides for all 4 fenders. All pieces line up and fit well. Overall a great looking kit and a joy to build! I am told that the mold was originally created over 15 years ago. I am the 1st on my block to have a "Little Tiger" why not go out and get yours?!
